Default Thank you!!

When I received the 1099-MIS, I honestly have no clue who it was coming from. When I learned it was STA, I was ecstatic, thinking I make $1,600. Then I think to myself, wait a minute, I never received any money from them. OK, maybe they are doing extremely well, so my $20 has doubled and doubled and doubled. I went to the website to learn more. Then I learned they were about to be closed. Hmm... not goood sign. What is going on? I found a phone # on the 1099-mis, Great! Contact, I can make contact to found out what is going on. The phone directed me to ymhelp.com. I used their contact or trouble box and have been emailing back and forth with them. It was going no where. They claim I did a survey in 7/2005, I was awarded with promo WAC in 2/2006.

What is promo WAC? I didn't realize those promo WAC are worth $1,600.
I have never asked for it nor did I even know I got it. They just gave it to me and filed a 1099-M on my behave.

The website and what they wanted me to do was so confusing that I have decided not to get involve and only visited their website twice in 2006.

In the exchange of emails, I realize they are not going to do anthing about it, the forum was closed and I was at a lost of what to do and how to disclaim the 1099-M. I am so happy to have founded this website. It has been a tremendous eye opening experience. It is sad this happened but I am also glad that I am not the only person who has this problem.

Thank you for everyone who has posted and offer suggestions and guidiance. I am following all the steps to report them to the appropriate agencies. I am also glad that I do not have to add this on to my tax return.

Thank Again,

Wendy

Hi Wendy.

There is a whole collection of documentation and info about calling the IRS about your bogus 1099 over at Matrixwatch. www.matrixwatch.com They have dedicated a whole subforum to this cause and it's easy to find if you click on "forums" and scroll down to the YMMSS/STA section.

Best of luck to you.
