Yes today I received a nice 10 page document from the IRS stating I owed $705.00 on money that I supposedly earned from STA. I didn't get a dime from them but lost plenty. So what do I do about this?

Any suggestions?

I called the IRS two months ago, told them what happened and they cancelled the 1099, and told me they were investigating Inman.

The forms are probably a good idea too.

Wow you guys are still butthurt about this one? This one went under like about 2 years ago. I had money in it to. We can kiss our money goodbye on this one. While I really think Kim Inman was not intentionally trying to scam anyone, he just got in over his head. He actually tried to dress a HYIP/autosurf/moneydoubler up in a suit and make it actually somewhat sustainable. Maybe there is a formula out there that can make that happen but as we all know, when it was all said and done Kim's wasnt it. It was a GAMBLE. Just like any of these other things on here you'll read about. Give it up. You money is gone.

Inman is eventually going to be prosecuted by federal authorities I believe.

I among others gave statements this summer to the IRS criminal division.

[ I and my son paid the taxes on the 1099, only because the accountant said we must, even though we disagreed. My daughter did not, and now she was hit with a letter from the IRS for 600.00. She called the IRS, and they said YMMSS was flagged on Aug 2, 2008, and that she did not have to pay. Thus, I need to file an amended return to see if I can get the money back. I would appreciate any help anyone can give. Thank you. ]

A few days ago I received a CLOSING NOTICE from the IRS office. They thanked me for providing the additional information about my issue and were pleased to tell me that, with my help, they were able to clear up the differences between my records and theirs. It's a done deal. Very polite in simple English, no hard to understand "legalese".

This one was bad. I only lost $60.00, but was about to deposit thousands. At the time, I was nothing more than a novice. I've educated myself since the times of YMMSS, but this one will still leave a permanent mark on the industry itself.

Sounds like several people lost thousands of dollars. Sorry to hear that, yet at the same time, I hope the lesson was learned.
