I am ready to either make out a new will or create a trust. My wife owns six, ten thousand dollar EE bonds, that are in her and her deceased fathers name. They do not mature till 2018.
I want to accomplice two things here. First I want to get my own name on the bonds as, joint tenant with right of survivorship, such that there is no hassle with probate or anyone else concerning ownership of the bonds in case of my wifes death. In addition to that matter, I also at the same time would like to apply the wording I am hoping to use on all TOD or POD documents, that I am hoping to apply to all of our assets. The wording goes like this: If both Pat and Jerry become deceased then the ownership will go to our four children: Kevin, Sean, Marlene and Patricia. If Kevin is deceased then his share would go to his daughter Emily. If Sean is deceased then his share would go to his two sons, Charlie & Ben. If Marlene is deceased then her share would revert to the other three survivors. If Patricia is deceased then her share would revert to the other three survivors Thanks in advance for any help you can render. JVP |

I am not sure I would be seeking precise wording for a will or trust in a forum. Each word can be very important, and it can vary by state.
You really should have counsel review and do that. The fee will be minimal and you will know it is done correctly |

Thanks for your reply. I fully realize the wording is very important and of course I will eventually have an attorney do the actual writing.
What I am really into is the effort to see if I can make out TOD documents for all my various assets, and the type of wording I used in my firsst post would be the type needed in those documents, I believe. I was testing this new found forum to see what kind of answers I might get. Thanks again. jvp |

I think most would be reluctant here to give actual advice as to words used in this situation--simply too risky for you and not reliable for you.
I would say more general issues and guidance are what you will find in the Forum--you could deal directly with an estate attorney if you use the private email system on the home page. |
