Default Tax Inheritance

We have a grandfather that died some time back His wife is still living my mother (his daughter) is still living how would I go about finding out if anything was left to us or if we are entitled to anything

They have to inform all heirs. You could check with the lawyers involved if any, and also with the local probate court to see if anything is filed there.
