Default closing an estate

I have a question for anyone that can answer. I live in Indiana and we have already gotten the release from the dept of revenue for our dad's estate. Our lawyer had me close out the bank account in August and get cashiers checks for the money to be divided between us. We were told by one lawyer that after it was released from the dept of revenue that the lawyer had 10 days with which to distribute the checks or they were null and void. The estate was released on the 18th of Oct. The judge released the checks in July and gave them back to the lawyer and hes had them since then. Is that legal and hes put money from the estate account into his own account to distribute when the estate is closed. That don't sound right to me. Please can anyone help me as we need to know this soon. He's kept this going for almost a year and my dad didn't owe any bills and he wouldn't let me have support.. even though I asked for it. He's already gotten his money.

If all agree and there are no tax issues, he should give to that to you right now. Ask for a written explanation if he does not.
