Question In law suite addition

hey,
My fater in law moved in with us 5 years ago. 4 years ago in paid for an addition to be build onto our house for him to live in. he is now in failing health, and my wife's sibblings are making statements about placing leans on the property, and making us pay them money for the addition on our house when he passes. Can they do this?

sorry everyone!! My husband took his Ambien already and mispelled a few words. Needless to say, my sister who does nothing for my father is power of attorney. This was decided long ago before my mother passed away because she was the oldest. My father gives me money every month for food, gas & electric, cable, etc. She is not happy about this, jealous may be the correct word, but I am primary care-giver. I have been taking care of my father since he moved in with me. During a fight, she had mentioned how I am the one who will benefit from the addition put on my home. I would have never ever in my wildest dreams think that they would come after the addition or maybe the money he put into the addition. I want to know if I should get something written up by an attorney and signed by my father while he is still able to make some decisions saying that they have no right to any part of my home or the sale of my home when my father passes away. Thanks!

No they cannot but it would help to make it clear in writing what was done and why. Then there will be no dispute, at all.
