Confused Do I Need An Attorney?

My father passed away in March of this year and left me a percentage of "the proceeds of sale" of his business, the building and the property it sits on. His widow was named executor of the will and her attorney contacted me in order to send me a copy of the will, but I haven't heard anything from either of them since. How do I go about finding out what is going on?
