Trying to find out estate liability
My husband's mother died last month. Before her death she had to spend time in and out of a nursing home. We thought medicare and her private insurance were paying for her stays, but her health care provider switched to an insurance company that does not pay for this type of care. The nursing facility is now sending us bills addressed to her estate. Do we have to pay them? Her assets barely cover her funeral. Her house has been in my husband's name for the past year or so.

Only the estate has to pay, and only if it had assets.
Unless of course if you signed some agreement otherwise. |
