Default estates

my father died on april. he had a will and and executor , his sister.
she has been harrassed by credit collectors, banks for monies owing.
there is no funds in estate and his lines of credit and visa totalled 40K.
do they have rights to keep asking for info on funds , can we declare bankruptcy on estate even after death?
i think that would stop them from this harrasment.

Default Re: estates

Only the estate is liable not her...she need not pay. Once the estate is closed the creditors' claims are extinguished.
