Confused Very complicated matter

My family has a pretty good amount of land, about 63 acres, that was left by my grandfather(my father's father), to his children. There were 8 in all. Out of those 8, only 2 are now living. My aunt passed 2 years ago & she had 6 children. Five of the six wanted to sell their mother's share to a certain individual. In the meantime, I personally wanted a few acres of land in which to put a house on. So my father went to our local clerk's office & was told that in order for the land to be transferred in my name, everyone had to sign & be in agreement. I decided to drop it, because we did not know where everyone resided. Anyway, to make a long story short, the land that the 5 wanted to sell to this certain individual got sold even though one did not sign. Now, the 2 children of my grandfather's that are still living (my father & my uncle) had no say in this whatsoever. Mind you, this land that was sold has never been surveyed. How did this land sell without everyone signing? Could it be possible that my father & uncle could sue their neices & nephews for this or is this perfectly legal?

Everybody that had a legal interest had to sign or it was not done legally, and action could be taken. You may want to have a title company or local lawyer review it all for you.
