Confused Executor of Estate for a minor, RE:previous thread

I neglected to mention that my two children and I live in California. Can I become Executor of their Estates without hiring an attorney? If so, what documents do I need to file and how long will it take to get a court date? Both of my children are in agreement that I need to be their Executor. I am their natural mother and only caregiver.
