What should an attorney bill the estate, worth approximately 300K, when the estate is simply being split between her two sons? The money is in trust, and was set up to just automatically move to two trusts in her sons' names. Nothing is being contested. What would a reasonable fee for this be?

Some states have rules governing this. Call the probate court as well and/or the State Bar. Five percent may be reasonable.

Thank you, the bill in question stands around 7%.
Does the size of the bill usually reflect the size of the estate? Shouldn't it reflect the amount of work involved? |

Call your state bar to check what they recommend or what the max by law may be--both systems are used to bill.
