Default No Will but I know my daughter was the Ins Beneficiary

I'm from Maryland.

Ok when my daughter was born, my boyfriend at the time, his parents both got life insurance policies. They listed each other as the beneficiaries. Her as the secondary in case either of them died. They wanted to ensure her future. Dad died first, so I'm assuming that Mom got his insurance. Then, when Mom died, she was in a nursing home and her son, my now ex boyfriend died shortly thereafter. It was a very suspicious death but that isn't the real issue here.
My dilemma lies here. Her policy named my daughter as the beneficiary after her deceased husband and I knew this. My ex's brother cashed the policy and said it wasn't made out to him. It was made out to his dad (he's a junior) He said that she wasn't the beneficiary she was and I know she was. How do I prove this? Or can I? He still has the money and oddly enough, he and I are on very good terms. He has given me about $1000 for what he calls "helping his brother's daughter out" But I think it's to shut me up so I won't investigate. It. It wasn't a lump sum just a few hundred dollars here or there.
Any advice is so helpful and much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!

You can ask for a copy all related documents and tell him if he will not do so, you have no choice but to file in court and subpoena all the information.

It would be easy to do.

If he cashed a policy that was not made out to him, that is fraud and he could spend time behind bars for that.

You need an attorney to help you subpoena the insurance policy, which will clearly show your daughter as the beneficiary.

Good luck to you.
