I just received a Waiver of Process of Service from the life insurance company (Plaintiff) that was supposed to disburse the life insurance benefits according to policies, there was a contestation and therefore the Plaintiff brought the matter up to the US District Court Southern District of Florida. All of the Defendants (including me) received a waiver of process of service and the documentation related to the case, which I assume is under the US Court's jurisdiction now. My question is what is a waiver of process of service? Does the State of Florida have any specific laws related to this document besides just waiving an "official" process of service or summons (excuse me if I misuse the terminology)? If I sign it I'm only stating that I do not need to be served, correct? Or is more entailed in signing this document? I'm in urgent need of advice, I hope an expert will reply soon. Thank you.

Hello I am the owner of the company that posted the first response. We are not responsible for that posting and have no idea who would post such a non-responsive answer?
A waiver of service from the insurance company is a document asking you to accept service of process volunarily. The waiver is in lieu of having a Sheriff or private process server come to your home or place of employment and hand you the documents from the insurance company and or Attorney representaing the insurance company. Think of the waiver as a voluntary gesture on your behalf as aopposed to having someone force a dpcument upon you. Moreover, there is no law or any legal means requiring you to accept the waiver. The above should not be deemed as legal advise. I am not an Attorney. You really should consult an Attorney who can advise you properly. My answer is simply an opinion based upon a wide range of Process Server Services we offer. Again, consult an Attorney before you do anything Good Luck, Jonathan Levy President Agency for Civil Enforcement Corp Florida Process Servers | Florida Summons and Subpoena Server Services |
