Red Face Should I retain a Lawyer?

I have been married for 1 1/2 years and my husband died in December 2006. I just got the death certificate 2/21/2007 so now that I can proceed, what should I do? I do not know where the will is. I think it is a safe deposit box in his name only. I do have the key...

Secondly he has credit card debt in his name only. Will I have to pay it off?

I am now a single mom again. My son is 12. We need to keep my husbands home and I don't make much money. So adding a lawyer to my debt scares me. But I don't know what I need to do as far as notifying bank, mortgage, etc. Please help.

Your local probate court has useful instuctions...give them a quick call. Also email info@worldlawdirect.com if you want help sorting out the debt. You often don't have to pay.
