Confused Pension... I am British, I married a USA serviceman in UK...

I am British,I married a USA serviceman in UK in1982,we were married for 16 years and divorced in England,Unfortunately the English courts would not have anything to do with the pension side of things and my ex husbands solicitor had a finacial settlement written out that quoted I have no interest in the miltary pension,at the time i was suffering a breakdown and after 2 years of trying to get a solicitor that would take time out to study the miltary pension side of things i signed the settlement reluctantly but only so i had something legal to get the child support ,I wrote a letter to the judge stating that i was not happy and did have a right to part of the miltary pension when my ex retires as i was with him 16 years of marriage and had two sons, but he said he would have to look into it but my ex husband was being sent back to America with his Air force job so I signed the settlement as at least id have the child support .My ex husband retires soon form the military soon and would like to know if there is any way i can apply for part of his miltary pension even though I ve been divorced since 1998,I never remarried and and I have a disabilty that affect my abilty to work part of it is to do with the problems I had in my marriage .Please can you advise me .

Default Re: pension

It is difficult if you agreed otherwise in a court proceeding but not impossible. You may have to show unfair bargaining power, fraud etc.

You may email info@worldlawdirect.com and they could possibly help take next steps.
