There was an initial distribution from Dad's estate in 2004 which I was assured by the estate lawyer I would not have to pay taxes on. I recently received a letter from this lawyer telling me to use the attached K-1 forms and file an ammendment to my 2004 personal taxes to account for IRAs cashed to make initial distribution. I have 2 brothers, 1 is the excuter, & they had already filed their taxes before I even received this information. Because I make more money than they do it makes the estate's final distribution unequal. Is this legal?
