Unclaimed Property
I am 42 and just found out who my father was. My mother had an affair and he was married when I was born. My question is that is there a way to prove he was my father? ( he died in 1997) and if so do I have any legal rights to his estate or property. I believe that his wife is still alive and also he had no other children.. Please advise. thanks

It is very hard to re-open the estate if it has been closed. You often have to show some kind of fraud or hiding of facts by some party. A lawyer could look over all details however and see if you have some kind of chance.

How do you find out if the estate is closed. Is this information listed somewhere that I could look it up?
