Default poa responsibility

I was power of attorney for a friend's estate until it lapsed at death. Five nieces and nephews are in disagreement with me continuing on as rep. Bills, checks for deposit, etc. have come to a standstill. There is a storage unit that needs to be paid or it will be confiscated and sold. His cremains and coin collection is in there, but I have already paid over a thousand dollars to apply for legal rep. Am I responsible for any debt after my duties as p.o.a. have ended? A handwritten will was discovered in some papers excluding these siblings; who is responsible for deeming it valid? Thanks in advance for your help.
