Confused will left money in german bank

I have found an old letter stating my grandfather was left money, but in a german bank, my parents located it in 1970s but it was in occupied germany and would have had to go to get it? any way to still track it down? I have all legal papers an am mothers only heir she died 3 years ago. I contacted the bank with no responce.except to tell me banks are all different now than they were then.
