Exclamation Husband entitled?

I've been married for 13 yrs., but only lived with the creep for 9 months. Cannot find him to obtain divorce - he's on sex-offender website and doesn't comply with re-registration when he moves - which is often.

My great aunt recently died and left me some sort of inheritence (cash, but amount not know yet). Is my "husband" entitled to half of this? - I mean will they search for him to give him a portion?

I am under the impression that inheritences, gifts, property, etc. that are given specifically to one person after a marriage, are not considered community property. Please help!!!

I live in Indiana if that matters.

Inheritance is separate property--he does not get any of it.

Confused Re: Husband entitled?

This is wonderful news if it is indeed true - anyone else out there have an opinion? If not - any advice on how to obtain a "quickie" divorce?

Thank you!

Your husband has to be served papers--it won't be all that quick....
