Thumbs Up confusing estate trace

I live in England and my father who lived in New York for 40 years, passed away in January in Spain where he retired to in 2002.It was well known among the family that he had left all his assets in New York. Our stepmum has produced his spannish will that leaves her everything that was in spain. The will states the Spannish will does not cancel wills in other countries. We have a family home in Scotland which was my grandparents home, our stepmum is to get £35,000 from that, which will leave my brother and me with virtually nothing. She wont give us any information on what has happened to my fathers assets in Westchester County. Can anyone tell me how to find this information. Its more complicated as i dont live in New York anymore.
Any information on what to do will be very much appreciated,i am so confused over it all.
