Default Irrevocable trusts and resulting trusts

What significant differences exists when considering whether a Resulting trust exists in the circumstances where an irrevocable trust is used as a gift as against its use in a pension arrangement between an employer and employee in which the employer also receives tax relief from the IRD for the same contributions?
