What is the legal procedure for contesting a family will of testament? (This
would be for the state of Maine where the testator lived)Mostof the heirs to the will live in both New Hampshire and Massachusetts, 1 heir does live in Maine. Do you need legal counsel in order to contest a will? This Will has been open for 10 years (which I find extremely odd) and we just now got a Petition for Order of Insolvency, Report & Establishment of Insolvency along with Examination of Creditors Claims by Court and a Certificate of Service and we now only have 20 days to contest this Will. (of which I find this "short" number of days suspicious) Are reasoning for contesting this Will is that insufficient copies of the Testaor\'s records, such as Bank Accounts, Investments, PAGE 1 of Federal & State Income Tax form \"not included\" - they did include PAGE 2 of these forms. Any advice would be appreciated as soon as possible - given the 20 day limit for contesting this Will. |

You can simply file in court--something does seem a bit odd if this is still open after ten years...
If you suspect or allege wrongdoing you can demand a full accounting. Normally you would want a lawyer to assist with this kind of issue. |
