Social Security refers to the federal Old-Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (OASDI) program. And that the Social Security benefits will go up by 3.6 percent in 2012 to modify for the cost of living. This will be the very first increase in Social Security benefits in 3 years. This comes as welcome news for retirees in the economic depression. But boosts in Medicare premiums will take up much of that boost for many seniors. This would be a great news, Social Security benefits to increase for the first time since 2009.
