i don't want ot go to jail...please respond soon.

okay, heres the thing. i am 17 and i broke into 2 cars...one I took a wallet and used his credit card. and the second was just shoes that i took back to a walmart. i was charged w/ misdeamor w/ theft under 300 dollars. released w/ bail of 110 dollars

ive never done anything like this before...
not a single thing.
not even a speeding ticket.

im going to court in a week or so... but im not for sure what they are wanting to charge me with. i thnk burglary, but im not for sure.

im not wanting ot go to jail, not that anyone does...


im being charged as an adult.

the detective said i would probably get 2 years probation, or like 30 days in jail.

it doesn't help that the persons car was the states attorney.

but hes actually being very nice by not pushing for the worst possible punishment which i think he said was 7 years or soemthing in prision...

but i want an honest opinion on what will probably happen.

me being 17, and i personally apologized to the victims and repaid everything .

any help?

It would be advisable to get counsel to help negotiate this down and hopefully eventually keep this off your record. Often this could be negotiated down to some kind of court supervision if your record is otherwise clear now.

man what state are you in that theft is a misdemeanor all the way up to $300 ??? In new jersey it's only $200 ...
