Confused Can no longer afford my attorney...need advice please

I have a texas felony drug case that has been set for trial in three months, but I don't have the money my attorney needs to continue representing me.

What steps do I take now since I no longer have representation?

If the court appoints me a lawyer, how is it decided who you get?

Is this likely to delay the trial?

What if I later do get the money before the trial date and wish to retain my original attorney?

You will get one appointed randomly...

Normally your lawyer should have set out costs for pre-trial and then trial.

That would have made it easier for you to budget and be aware etc.

I dont know much on this, i am from texas tho. I would think u can could go in front of the judge and tell them ur situation about the money thing and they should appoint u an attorney. You'll get whatever attorney they give u, sad we cant choose which one we'd like to have. If in the future u find u can again afford an attorney u should be able to do away with the appointed one at anytime, it's ur right. Just dont make a game of switching back and forth with em, it wont look good.

Good Luck
