Default time taken to prepare defence

i am in a really unfortunate situation.

I am based in the UK but do not think this is entirely relevant to the question

I have no involvement with the law in my life, i have good and professional character.
My now unfortunate partner accused me/made an allegation against me of sexual assault/common assault - both in a minor scale.

she was setting me up from what I can see.
Anyway, I have been in absolute distress over this as we were together for some time and loved each other so very much.

To cut to the chase, I was unhappy with the firm that were representing me. I did not know what I was doing as I was in complete shock about everything.
I tried to transfer away from them but they objected and the court objected also.
I dont trust the firm as they gave me no support, confidence, or anything at all.
Now, eventually I thought I would give them a chance.... I did and they said to me that they have basically prepared my defence case! This is WELL before the plea hearing at the crown court....after the hearing, the trial date will be set.

Thing is, how on earth can they prepare a defence case in litrally 2 days? The prosection has more papers than I do (statements, which are inconsistant but also lies and some statements were made AFTER the allegation of a timeframe between 2-3 weeks!)

This REALLY does not sound good if they have already prepared my case when I feel I don't have a defence!
They havent guided me or anything, or even told me the whole procedure but sat me down at the court, going through the advanced disclosure papers from the prosecutor...and that was it!

I mean, the prosecutor has more papers than I have right now.

Is this how lawyers/solicitors prepare a defence case? Is this how long it takes? I am not guilty, I know it, my ex partner knows it....and the whole case is "weak" according to the solicitor.

how long roughly should a solicitor take to prepare a case? I thought this would be an ongoing thing until the trial approaches?

The court should delay it if you seriously argue that your counsel is unacceptable to you and you want to change lawyers.
