Is there a chance that the cop may not show up for trial? Does it jeporidize his job if he doesn't show?

There is no way to make a prediction with certainty without knowing the details of the case. However, it is not uncommon for a police officer to have a scheduling conflict and miss a minor case (the most common example would be traffic infractions). However, for serious cases (such as felonies), you can bet he or she will attend to offer their testimony -- oftentimes pursuant to subpoena. As to impacting their job, that would be a matter of internal policy and discipline, but generally showing up to testify is considered part of the job. AJJ
