Open warrant in Houston, tx for theft by check

In 2006 I a check bounce (35.00) because the founds I was looking for was like a day late. I didn't think nothing of it thinking It would go on telechecks and that's it. I just lost a really good job because the employer told me I had an open warrant. What can I do to make this better for me in the future? I would hate for a 35 dollar check to ruin my life. I was told about getting the charge expunge, but someone else said if I was to plead guilty (most likely I will have to do) then I can't get it expunge. I was also thinking about asking the store can I work something out but I don't know. What do you guys think?

Hire a senior respected criminal law lawyer to see if it can be resolved and removed one way or another from your record. You are going to have to pay for it. Don't handle it alone.

The amount at issue is small so the prosecutor may agree.
