Violation Of Probation

Alameda County, California.

My boyfriend is currently in Santa Rita Jail in Alameda County. For the past 3 years he has been on Court Probation because he commited vehicle theft back in 2006. He was required to get two notes from his teachers to prove he was doing well in college (which he is). Unfortunatly a mishap occured with the documents and he ended up signing the letters himself (idiot). He turned these two letters into the judge (who he knows pretty well) and upon returning the next week to court, the judge refused to see him and told him to come back the next week. When we returned the next week, the judge arrested him. His next court date is on August 7th ( 63 days after being arrested) . His previous public defender was telling me that the judge was talking about 9 months but the P.D was telling me he wasn't going to recieve that long. This is his first violation since he's been on court probation. Why is the court date so far away? Isn't a violation like 60 days and then maybe a longer probation period after? Basically Im wondering if he's going to be in there for longer than 60 days, Santa Rita is packed and since his violation wasn't so ''serious'' will they let him go?

They may let him go if this is a first event like this, but he has to show respect for the court and its orders or he will not get a second chance. He really cannot be playing games at this point or the judge will keep him locked up--the judge really has no other option.
