Cop not investigating further
Read my posts down below about my husband getting charged for his friend taking off. When the guy took off, he repeadily told the cop that he took off that way in the woods. The cop didn't want to hear it and refused to further investigate it. Had he looked around the area, there was a good chance he would've have found the driver. Can the cop get in trouble or be held liable if he didn't follow through with the investigation?

Not really--your friend can give any and all information and the police can take it from there...that is all they really have to do.
