Petty Theft in MD. Fort Meade.
I was accuse of petty theft at the px exchange at fort meade in maryland. I was accused of shoplifting an amount under 50$. What would my penalty be. This is my first offense. Should I go back to the store and apologize and ask for the charges to be dropped. Also I am 18 and i live with my parents, can i ask for a provided lawyer or do my parents have to pay for one. I do not have an income and can not afford one but my parents can.

1st offense carries small fines community service and probation as a norm. You will also have a criminal record if convicted. I suggest you talk to a Lawyer and ask about Diversion. You can also visit this website as its designed to give answers to accused shoplifters

i saw a lawyer and they said that sit wasnt just petty theft
but stolen frederal property because its on a military base. |
