I have been released from my job due to a nonclearance from the doj. I have a felony conviction on my record that was disclosed on my application and the offence is over 13 years old now. i have contacted the public defenders department of the convicting county and have been told that i may be able to have my record expunged but that it is unlikely due to a probation violation that occured on the same case due to untimely payment of restitution. I have also been told that if it is expunged from my record that i still may not be able to get the clearance to return to work...i have spent the past 7 years reinventing myself as a certified addiction specialist for youth. any help is appritiated.

It is worth trying. Depending where you are the judge has some discretion.
Your hard work and positive changes, and the time that has passsed may work in your favor. Ask a couple of local lawyers to opine as to your chances as well. |
