Drug Possession Charges - Kentucky

My boyfriend was just recently arrested in Kentucky for possession on a controlled substance. he also was charged with having things you do drugs with and also hiding evidence. this is his only offense he has never had anything else and i don't know if he is going to get a fine or if he is going to jail. he tested clean so they know he is not on drugs. His bail was only $86. He was covering for a friend so his friend didn't get in trouble. Can Some one tell me the possible punishment he can receive and what is likely to happen.

Make sure you or he hires counsel (or at least the public defender) to try to keep this off the record eventually--jail time is not likely going to occur if his record is clear now. But having that arrest and/or a conviction on the record will make job-hunting etc. more difficult. Often this could be negotiated down to some kind of court supervision, a dismissal etc. If it eventually appears it cannot be negotiated down, or he (or you) needs to discuss this in more detail with senior counsel to review options etc., please let us know.

HI! I'm trying to talk to someone who might be in my situation. I'm charged with attempting to trafficking pills, but I never touched a pill nor did I give a under cop money but I was at the scene, I m paying a top lawyer 15,000 and now he wants me to plea to 3yrs probation. I know he has bigger sh-t on hes plate so I feel hes fluffing me off to get a fast 15.000gs I need a outsider to help me. I don't where to turn!

I have the EXACT same question about the attorney getting paid 15k and not doing anything different than what a first year lawyer could have done. I am freaked out as well. Any advice?

On another note, he is considered the BEST in this small county and he and the judge I am being tried under used to be law partners. ???

Tuesday 20, 2009 is my plea bargin court date. The prosecution came up with the longest most difficult sentence and , my attorney said he did all he could just to get something besides a prison sentence. What gives.

Hey I just read your message , I just went to Orlando with all my papers of discovery ,to another lawyer, He was great right up front I liked him much more than the one I hired . But I came to him to late , also he said yes looking at my papers its best to plea . But if my jerk daughter didn't get so intimidated by the cops and say things to them that weren't even true ,because she has never been in trouble she just thought they would let us go . I couldn't believe it when I saw her tape ! She is bipolar has a bad drug habit 22yrs old all this I didn't know . And hates me for divorce her father . All if this the lawyer I thought would bring up a trial! I'm really F@#^&% I never bought a pill or touched one I didn't even have any money , but cops said I has 1000 in my purse I didn't even take a purse!

You might want to have some outside second opinions on the whole thing?

If Iam charged with the intent to traffic pills , even thought I did not buy a pill just at the wrong time and place but the person I was with was trying to ! Why does my lawyer want me to take a plea of possession!??? I never possessed one . CAN I get an answer?

He may think it appears that you knew what was going on and helped exercise control over the drugs.

You can certainly dispute it...review the evidence with him.
