I received a deferred sentence for 24 months in Washington state for theft 3d degree misdemeanor. I have no previous criminal record and if I stay out of trouble and and do the community service, pay the fines, will my criminal record by clear after 2 years? My public defender said yes, but I looked around online and people say the it still shows up on your record as a guilty conviction. Can someone please help me as I think the public defender screwed me

get the opinion in writing and check with the prosecutor's office as well but often that does stay off your record.
