Question Taking a charge for him...is it smart? Respond by 4-10-08

To get my man off some of his charges, I plan to take a charge myself for domestic violence. I've never been in any trouble at all, not even a traffic ticket, so does anyone know what might happen to me? Is it better for me to take a charge with no record, or for him to take 3 felony charges with a prior conviction of domestic violence. I think that he would probably do a lot of time and I wouldn't do any, right? Please help me. Court is on April 10th.

Try speaking to the DA, -- They have the right to continue to pursue the case on their own (even if you don't want them to) but if they feel this was a one-time incident and will never happen again--they may drop it. They want to make sure no abuse is continuing if and when you two are back together.
