Confused Probation question - My friend was charged with embezzlement.

My friend was charged with embezzlement. She did not do it but plead guilty under stress. The dollar amount was 132000.00. The judge gave her 10 years suspended and 5 years probation. She had no prior criminal record.
The 5 years probation time is up. When she went in to see her probation officer she asked her about the time being up on her probation.
The probabtion officer said that because she still owed 124000.00 restitution that the judge probably would extend her probation time.
She has done everything that they have asked her to do. She still payes 200.00 a month on the restitution.

How much longer can they keep her on probation?

They can keep her on probation for at least the length of time of the original sentence (10 years) since she has not yet paid restitution. She likely needs to pay off her debt, or at least show good progress (good faith effort) towards it, before they will release her from probation. In 5 years, she has only paid off 8000 on that debt! That is an average of only about $30 per week. That doesn't sound like she has been paying on it regularly. If she had paid $200 a month for the last 5 years, she would have paid 12000 of it down.

She will have to show the court that she is really trying to make restitution. $30 per week probably isn't enough of an effort in the court's eyes. At that rate, it will take her another 79 years to pay off that debt. Even at $200 per month, it will take her over 51 years to pay it back. She's going to have to at least make regular payments every month towards it.
