Start Petition to Remove Fine from Tickets
"Are you one of the approximately 35 million people who receive a traffic ticket each year?"
Taken from World law direct-fighting a speeding ticket (2007)
Point, if the average of all these tickets were just $100 that would be 3.5 billion dollars per year in fines.
Sugested Solution; Removing the money from the citation would give the tax payers a 3.5 billion dollar tax break with out the government giving them back money or paying anything extra to them. Thats a nice 3.5+ billion dollar annual boost to the economy.
Removing the money will remove the temptation to entrap the motoring public and fleece them of their hard earned money. It would also go a long way to removing ticket quotes that are often being used tools to assess and control Officer Performance. Further reducing the temptation to defraud the public in order for the officers to maintain their positions on the force.
A grass roots movement to fight this injustice at the national level might be the answer, but it needs the backing of large legal groups to help fight the backlash that will undoubtable come from local and county governements who derive large portions of their incomes from the issuance of these citations. The current points and suspension system is fair enough without the added fines from both the government and the insurance companies.
An added note; We need to start fighting this rate increase and cancelation like they medical comunitiy is fighting big insurance.
