Default military person cannot appear for proof of insurance violation

My grandson is in the military and received a ticket for failure to have proof of car insurance while he was home on leave. He is stationed in California and the ticket was issued in Dupage county, Illinois the morning he flew back to California. The car he was driving is owned by my daughter, had valid insurance on day of ticket and he was insured on the car. He just didn't have a current proof of insurance card in the car. Can I go to court either before the court date or on the court date and provide proof of insurance for him? What will I need to provide? My daughter will appear if she has to as owner of vehicle but will have to take off work. I am retired so it would not be an inconvenience.

Neither your daughter or you have any authority to speak on your grandson's behalf in front of the judge. If your grandson cannot attend himself, you will need to hire an attorney who can represent him for the court appearance.
