Fine was paid,but license suspended

My husband got a failure to wear a seatbelt ticket over a year ago in a little town (we live in oklahoma) about 200 miles away.We were taking his old truck to trade in.We were having money problems at the time and he talked to the court clerk about an extension.She agreed and they came up with payment arrangements.The fine was paid in full according to their agreement. Now, over a year later, my husband was pulled over for speeding, and found out his license was suspended.So he got a ticket for driving without a license, speeding,and no insurance verification(which they said will be dropped if we provide proof,it was in the van but due to all the confusion it was overlooked)My husband called the town where he got the ticket a year ago and the court clerk apologized and said she would resubmit where he had paid the ticket in full.He then called the DMV and they were of no help.They basically said we don't care how it happened,who messed up,give us $50.00 and we'll reinstate your license.Done.But now he is stuck with a 235.00 ticket (for suspended license) and the 50.00 reinstatment fee.What should we do? Have the clerk write to the DMV and copy you on the letter. The DMV has to act in that case but you may have to be persistent with them.
