Default mysterious traffic tickets & identity theft

I believe I'm a victim of identity theft. I used to live in California, and I now live in Georgia. In both states someone made traffic violations and claimed they were me. I recently found out about these when I attempted to get my drivers lisence. The Georgia ticket was in the recent past and the California ticket was issued several years ago. I don't know for certain who did it (I have a feeling, but no proof) and I'm not certain what to do. Please help.

get the details and show it could not have been you because you were somewhere else; then file a police report

Similar situation here. Was living in Indiana when a ticket was issued to my name in California. Being over a decade ago, I now live in NM, where I was refused renewal of my driver's license due to state reciprocity of DMV records.

>get the details

NP, got those.

>show it could not have been you because you were somewhere else;

Okay, in my case it was over ten years ago. No, records exist that of which I am aware. And isn't burden of proof on the prosecutor/litigant, anyway?

>then file a police report

locally, here in NM. Or in the state that the allleged offense occured? Or the state from which the compromised licensed was issued?

You may file where the alleged crime or incident occurred.
