Ok, I would like to say "i was pulled over today" but I wasn't. So I pulled into the gas station on my motorcycle today, filled up, and proceeded to wait in the long line in the gas station for 10 minutes. I payed and returned to my bike. I put my jacket on, and my helmet. I was at the gas station probably 15 minutes. I am just about to start the bike when a cop pulls up beside me at the pump and asks if I have a motorcycle license. I wasn't going to lie so i said no, I just bought the bike a couple weeks ago. And even better, my registration is a month expired. He said he would let me go on the registration because I just bought it, but proceeded to right me a $200 ticket for operating a motorcycle with no M license. Technically I never operated the bike in his presence. The bike was never even started. And I was forced to get my truck and haul it home. Is this beat-able in court? Last I checked "attempting to operate a motorcycle without proper certification" isn't written in law. Is this worth hiring a lawyer?

It is worth hiring a lawyer --they can perhaps negotiate it down or find other defenses etc.--but the fact the officer did not see you operate it will not work unless you want to commit perjury to the judge.
