careless driving ticket (involves accident)

My question involves a careless driving ticket from the State of: Michigan

When I was trying to take my car off my apartment's parking lot, I mistakenly stepped on the gas when I was in drive thinking I was in Reverse and Hit a parked car (Nobody was inside) and hit the apartment too (I don't how it happened that fast, but I think it might be the result of me drving a different car for the past three days which I rented to go out to Newyork city and Niagara). It was a mistake that I should have been in the correct gear and should have used the correct amount of gas. I called up my insurance and informed and they said they will take care of everything including the rental car for the damaged car and they told me I don't need to inform the cops since it is a private property. The husband of the damaged car owner called the police. The police came in and gave me 3 points for careless driving. The careless driving law says it has be in a public area, including parking lots. (there is a sign in the parking lot saying unauthorised vehicles will be towed), I think it means parking lots where public have access to, like a paid parking lot or a super market parking lot.

A person who operates a vehicle upon a highway or a frozen public lake, stream, or pond or other place open to the general public including an area designated for the parking of vehicles in a careless or negligent manner likely to endanger any person or property, but without wantonness or recklessness, is responsible for a civil infraction.

If it is a problem How can I go for a Plea Bargain or ask for a Driving class. Please advise. (I don't know if it helps but I have a clean driving record till now)
