Speeding citation issued without use of radar gun

My name is Jordan and I live in North Carolina.

I was issued a speeding citation by my school's campus police. The officer wrote on my citation that my speed was AP (approximately) 30. I assume that this was a guess and not a reading obtained from a radar gun or other speed detection device due to the "AP." The officer also did not match my speed to obtain an estimate that way because he was at a standstill before he started to pursue me. It was purely based on a visual estimate. I would also like to note that the officer did not pull me over until I had already pulled out onto the main road away from the street on which I had allegedly "Exceeded a Safe Speed." The vehicle code I "violated" is, I believe, 65.20-141(a). Furthermore, there were many cars parked along both sides of the two lane street I was driving on prior to being pulled and I believe that the officer had a blocked view of my car for some time between the indecent and my being pulled over. A time I estimate to be between 20 and 30 seconds. Plenty of time to miss something. I intend to take this case to court but I am completely unaware of how all of this works. I will do my own extensive research but the opinions of other more experienced than I will be graciously accepted.
