Will I receive a ticket for stopping along side a school bus?
> I was driving to work behind a school bus (on a two way two land road) and I noticed shortly before it pulled over to the side in the right lane a yellow light came on. I thought since it when off maybe it was going to turn instead (Thought it was turn lane, but there was construction there). It was crawling to a stop and I kept going as did people behind me (glancing across the street at other traffic), until I noticed the bus was stopping and the stop sign was starting to come out. I threw on my brakes (and I think it was the bus driver that honked at me after I had already put on the brakes) and had my car stop along side the school bus (I did not pass the school buses stop sign and kids were not crossing the street. The stop must have been on the right side). I live in IL and was only going 20 at the time. |

That normally will get you a ticket. You have to stop well behind. But if you can testify or show it was still moving and had no lights on at the point you approached, then you will defeat any ticket.
Did they ticket you or report you? |

Most school buses put their warning lights on well before they come to a complete stop. This is for the purpose of warning drives on the road that they are about to stop.
Unless there was a police officer around it's doubtful you'll be ticketed, however. |

I didn't get pulled over by a cop, but not sure if they reported it.

Went back to the place it happened, four lane road. Two lanes in each direction (shortly after it becomes a two lane road).

Relax. If you didn't get a ticket by now you're not going to. If school bus drivers reported everyone who did this they wouldn't have much time for anything else.
Chalk it up as a warning for yourself and move on. |
