Please advise
I got a speeding ticket in Dec. Showed up second time, officer didn't, judge said if officer doesn't show up next time, case will be dismissed.
I went to the court third time, again officer didn't, judge said case dismissed. I received a letter asking me to show up again, called them thinking it was a mistake, they said if the officer doesn't show up, case is gonna be dismissed. Is this legal?!! Judge already dismissed it! What should I do? I don't wanna go again! Please advise. Thanks |

I would contact the judge that dismissed your case. Politely remind him that he had already dismissed your case. Also let him know you have already had to take off from work three times, while it is part of the officers job to be in court. The officer has already had three changes and has not shown up. In addition, since the case has already been dismissed, this would put it in the double jeopardy category (you can't be charged twice for the same crime...the judge knows this). What is fair is fair, and you should not be expected to take more time off from work because someone who is employed by the taxpayers has not properly done his job.
