Hello all. I'de like to share with you my current dilemma.
October 27 2008 - While driving to Urbana Champaing in Illinois from Chicago, I get pulled over and receive a ticket for going 102 in a 65 on highway, and failing to yield at a stop sign (I took the ramp after I saw the police officer get out of the median, flustered, I didn't stop when I turned). Court Date was set to Decemeber 1st 2008. I got to my court date, plead guilty for both. January 8 (or 9th) I receive a letter from Cook County Secretary of State Office, informing me that my license is suspended from January 12 2009, until January 12 2010. A few days later, I contact a lawyer from Urbana Champaign, inform him of my situation, he states that due to the fact that its been more than 30 days, it will be very difficult to get anything done. The lawyer talks to the state prosecutor, the state prosecutor states that he will not drop any of the tickets, or reduce anything to help me out despite my clean driving record. The lawyer informs me that my only next option is to file and affidavit and go to court with the judge and state prosecutor, however, he said it will be a big waste of time because the judge is very likely to side with the state prosecutor and keep the tickets. Some important notes: I'm 19 college student (and therefore, getting 2 driving violations within a 24 month period on my record, by Illinois law, my license will be suspended) My record is 100% clean prior to these events |

best advice is not to drive 102 mph. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

Regardless of one's clean driving record, going 102 in a 65 is considered criminal speeding and you could very well have been arrested for that.
It's unclear what sort of advice you're seeking. You lost your license, as was appropriate for that amount of speed. It will remain on your driving record for 7 years. I agree with not doing the crime if you don't want to face the consequences of your actions. |
