Confused Are Police Required to Tell You the Method By Which They Determined Your Speed?

I recently received a traffic ticket, I know for a fact that I was going 37 miles per hour. The police car was driving in the opposite lane coming towards me and I saw him from a distance and double checked my speed.

The police proceeded to pass me and then, by the way, make an illegal u-turn, to get behind me. When they pulled me over, my first thought was whether I missed a speed limit sign and if I had been in a 25 mile per hour zone.

The police officer stated that I was going 47 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone. After I had already signed the ticket, I politely asked where I was when he says I was going 45 and whether he used a radar. He immediately said I can take it to court if I want and that he doesn't have to tell me that information. Is that true? Someone told me he doesn't have to tell me the location where he determined I was speeding - which I find strange but if that is the case, ok. But does he really not have to tell me whether he used a radar gun to determine my speed. I'm also curious as to how he could determine my speed when he was driving in the opposite direction of me (coming towards me).

I guess I'm curious as to what my rights are.

There are many ways to challenge that speeding ticket if you are sure.

See the article fighting a speeding ticket on world law's site or may be it will even link from this post.
