Default Please Respond I Really Need Some Advice

Hello,

I recently received notice in the mail from a NJ state court that there was an arrest warrant issued for someone with a name very close to mine. The charge is "contempt of court" for failing to appear in court in reference to a summons. The name listed is very close but not accurate.

Example: Joey Jenson / Joe Jensen

I figure they got the wrong guy, last time i was in NJ was 2 years ago for a Jets game at the Meadowlands. I don't recall ever having any issues with law enforcement. As soon as my brother comes home i show him the notice and he then starts confessing to me that this is all his fault.

I recently made a now HUGE mistake and trusted my brother with my passport. He needed some identification to get into a bar with his girlfriend and so i lent it to him. According to him, he got pulled over driving her vehicle in NJ and showed the damn police officer my identification. He wasn't supposed to be driving because his license is suspended but she got really drunk and couldn't drive home. He got ticketed for speeding and for driving without a license. There was a summons to appear in court for the latter offense which he did and tried to get everything amended onto his name but the judge did not allow it because i wasn't present in court hence the warrant now out for my arrest.

Nobody ever sent anything to my house nor presented me with any order telling me to appear in court in NJ. Up until this notice of a warrant out for my arrest and my brothers confession i had no idea i had any problems in the state of NJ. The summons/tickets whatever you call them were never issued to me, i had no knowledge of the order and thus was unable to comply. My brother has agreed to go to court with me and testify to all of this but im worried for him now. I take it he would be facing fraud/giving an officer false information which is far worse than what im being charged with. The kids had a rough life and things are finally starting to look up for him. He finally enrolled into college and got himself a nice job working on Wall street. I don't want to see him fall apart, this is honestly tearing me apart right now because i don't know how to proceed.

I'm more than willing to eat the charge if i don't have to do any jail time and my records remain clean. As for the fines my brother will pay them all off. If i were to confess is it possible they just slap me with a fine or should i go into court and just challenge the officer to ID me? If he fails to do so im obviously off the hook right? He has never seen me (my passport photo is 8 years old) and i look nothing like my brother but this blind **** already thought he was me once. So what if he says im the guy? It is my word versus his after all and the officer has the upper hand right?

If i decide not to go to court at all could they come and arrest me in NY? I don't drive and i have no reason to ever go into NJ. Also like i said my brother showed the officer my passport as identification. Would i have a problem leaving the country?

Sorry for the long post, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You
